How I work
My starting point for working with all new therapy clients is with psychodynamic relational therapy. This just means that I’m guided by the philosophy that we are molded by our relationships and the world around us, which influences how we feel. We’ll learn together how your family of origin, systems in your life, and current relationships are at play in what is keeping you back. I also use behavioral techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), when you may need a practical strategy to help work through a specific problem while we do this larger, more psychodynamic work together. While I specialize in perinatal mental health, pregnancy loss, and relationship anxiety, I have experience in a wide variety of issues and populations. I work with individual adults in either brief or ongoing therapy. Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes.

Often, the issues that bring us to therapy involve our partners, and couples therapy can be a great place to untangle how you’re impacting each other. Couples sessions are typically 60 minutes.

Groups can be a great way to feel seen and heard by others going through similar situations. Stay tuned for more information on group offerings!

Next Steps
-
Book a consultation call
Let’s see if we will be a good fit! I offer a free 15 minute consultation call so that I can get a general idea of what brings you to therapy, and to make sure we will work well together and that I have the best expertise to offer you. In this call, you can ask questions about how I work and the therapeutic process.
-
Scheduling & Paperwork
If we decide together that we are a good fit, we will find a regular weekly time and book our first appointment. Then, I will send you intake paperwork, including consent forms and information about policies, to be completed through a HIPAA-compliant patient platform.
-
Initial Appointment
During our first appointment, I’ll get to know you further by hearing more about what has been going on, as well as gathering background information like family and medical history. We’ll start to sketch out goals together for treatment, leave time for any lingering questions and go over policies and logistics to ensure a smooth experience.
-
Ongoing Treatment
Depending on what brings you to therapy, we might work together briefly or more long-term. I ask all new clients to commit to weekly sessions for the first phase of treatment, after which we can assess the frequency of sessions depending on your progress towards your goals.
